Two women organisations and 14 farmer associations of the Villa Altagracia region in the Dominican Republic formed FUNDOPO (Federacion Dominicana de Productores Orgánicos) in October 2002. Today FUNDOPO is a registered fair trade organisation and is made up of 67 groups (including one womens group), which include over 1,500 small and medium sized cocoa farmers.

Working together has allowed these farmers to improve the quality of the cocoa and to obtain higher, more just prices for their products.
